THE feature flat race in Ireland recently was the Group 3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes, over nine and a half furlongs at Gowran Park last Sunday, and there were several notable aspects to the result.

A pair of three-year-olds beat their elders, the runner-up was the pattern-placed, stakes-winning first crop Champs Elysees (by Danehill) filly Regardez, the winner extended her undefeated record to three, and the victory provided jockey Pat Smullen with the first century of his career.
