GREG Broderick has said he is disappointed with what he called “a small minority of critics from our own camp” after his early exit from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with MHS Going Global. The rider was at the centre of a social media storm this week in which his equal 50th result at Deodoro was criticised and a slew of international show jumping riders and fans rallied to express their support for the Irish combinations.

Speaking to The Irish Field, Broderick said: “At the end of the day Rio didn’t work out for me, that’s plain to see. But it wasn’t because of any great catastrophe – I just didn’t get the rub of the green.
