TRICKY time of year this, the home straight of the National Hunt season, the first furlong of the flat season, the changing of the ground.

Misty Whisky has form on decent ground, she finished second in her bumper on her racecourse debut on good ground, and she finished second in a mares’ novices’ hurdle at Market Rasen last season on good to soft. But her best form is on soft ground, her big run in the Lanzarote Hurdle, her good run last time in a Grade 2 contest at Sandown. She may be as good in the EBF BetVictor Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Final at Newbury today on better ground, but we don’t know that she will be, and she is handicapped on her soft-ground form.
