THE Investec Corporate Banking “Dash” over five furlongs is a thrilling sight but a devil of a race to work out.

Strangely, there is still time for a horse to come from last to first, as Dark Shot very nearly did last year. He was fifth this time as Paul Midgley’s Tanasoq, having secured the nearside rail, came rattling through for James Sullivan to head Pettochside and Just That Lord. In the end he had nearly two lengths to spare – extraordinary in a multi-runner, flat-out contest run in under 55 seconds.
