RACEGOERS braved the Saturday showers at Newmarket, where Sir Michael Stoute’s Taamol ran out a narrow winner of the Listed Betway King Charles II Stakes, denying Larchmont Lad and Seven Heavens in a tight finish.

Not disgraced in the 2000 Guineas, Larchmont Lad brought classic form to the party and was conceding the winner 5lb. Both horses seem ideally suited to seven furlongs and the Jersey Stakes makes plenty of appeal.
