Pat Shanahan teamed up with Tadhg O’Shea to complete another successful raid to Britian with a double at Salisbury on Sunday. The Kilkenny-based trained sent over The Tartan Spartan (3/1) to take the feature race on the card, the “City Bowl” Handicap. Running in the colours of Thistle Farm Limited, the son of The Carbon Unit was held up by O’Shea before making good progress through the race and staying on strongly to take the £15,000 winner’s prize.

The Tartan Spartan had previously finished third in the valuable Queen’s Cup at Musselburgh, a race won by Shanahan’s Caron Dating.
