JOCKEY of the moment - betting without McCoy and Aspell - is actually Paddy Brennan, who completed an outstanding treble at Cheltenham on Thursday to add to Wednesday’s win, the highlight of which was The Govaness’ triumph in the Listed mares’ handicap hurdle. The 3/1 favourite, the Kayf Tara mare closed on clear leader Blue Buttons and took over after the last, galloping on to beat Nicky Henderson’s Broxbourne by three lengths. Trainer Fergal O’Brien reported that she missed the Festival because of a foot abscess. Layers suffered again when Brennan, teaming up with Tom George, won the Endsleigh Nicholson Holman Limited Handicap Chase on 7/2 favourite A Good Skin but the icing on the cake came in the bumper. Penalised horses do not have a great record in bumpers but Stuart Kittow’s filly Tobouggaloo shrugged off the extra burden and a long absence to win at 16/1. She will be an interesting recruit to hurdles. Dan and Harry Skelton are also going along very nicely and after two winners on Wednesday, had anearly double. The 9/4 favourite Stephanie Frances took the opening mares’ novices’ hurdle and 9/1 shot Pumped Up Kicks came home nine lengths clear of Lily Waugh in the feature event, the EBF/TBA Mares’ Novices’ Chase Finale.

The Galway Plate was mentioned as a possible target.
