LANDOWNER Wilson Dennison was happy to support his daughter Caroline and grandson Patrick Mackie in the one-day event at Loughanmore on Saturday but neither he, nor his good friend Ian Wilson, was enthralled by the dressage. The pair regarded the flat work phase more than a chore when they were competing and didn’t spend too long watching others on Saturday. Dennison is looking forward to the start of the point-to-point season and has plenty of horses ready to run, unless he sells them beforehand of course, which he is quite willing to do! Also at the event on Saturday were Jonjo Bright and Reah Magee who timed their arrival to miss the dressage. Jonjo was in good form but, like a typical farmer, was looking for rain having had enough of the dry spell. They had plenty of friends riding but missing was Harold Megahey who was en route to Portugal where he is competing as a member of the Irish team at the European young riders’ eventing championships.
