RAGING Bull’s victory in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby in Del Mar at the weekend was fully justified, the three-year-old showing continued improvement with each outing and adding to prior successes in the Grade 2 Hall Of Fame Stakes and the Grade 3 Saranac Stakes, both at Saratoga.

His sire Dark Angel (Acclamation) retired to stud 10 years ago and next year his fee is €85,000, having been as low as €7,000 in his third and fourth years at Yeomanstown/Morristown Lattin Studs. Two new Grade 1 winners this year have been the aforementioned Raging Bull and the Shoemaker Mile Stakes winner Hunt. They join Battaash, Harry Angel (to stud in 2019 at £20,000), Persuasive, Mecca’s Angel and Lethal Force (£4,500 in 2019) as his top level winners.
