ONE hundred and eighty. That is the number of Group or Grade 1 races won by the progeny of Galileo after the Emmet McNamara-partnered Serpentine slammed the opposition to land the 2020 Investec Derby at Epsom. It is 19 years since the Coolmore stallion giant won the race himself, and he too was a wide-margin winner, having three and a half lengths to spare over Golan.

Partnered by Michael Kinane, Galileo was the first of Aidan O’Brien’s record-breaking eight Derby winners, being followed by High Chaparral (Johnny Murtagh), Camelot (Joseph O’Brien), Ruler Of The World (Ryan Moore), Australia (Joseph O’Brien), Wings Of Eagles (Padraig Beggy) and Anthony Van Dyck (Seamie Heffernan).
