VIADERA provided her sire, Bated Breath (Dansili), with a well-deserved breakthrough success at the highest level at the weekend when she won the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar. Appropriately she did so in the colours of her breeder, Prince Khalid Abdullah, and she also advertised the high quality of Irish racing.

Trained initially by Ger Lyons, Viadera won a Curragh maiden on her debut before running second in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes at the same venue. Last year she showed her liking for headquarters when landing a premier handicap there, and then she travelled to the kingdom where she won the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cairn Rouge Stakes at Killarney.
