CATALYST’S win in a maiden at Wexford at the weekend was both well deserved and hugely significant. She had been a model of consistency in her six previous starts, finishing second five times and third once. The three-year-old daughter of Makfi did her potential sale value no harm with this win.

She is the sixth winner for her dam who was unbeaten in her first three starts, culminating in a victory in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes. This earned the David Loder-trained daughter of Salse a ranking as the champion juvenile filly in Ireland. She also won the Lowther Stakes and was fourth in the Prix Marcel Boussac, but she failed to train on.
