GALILEO had another Derby winner at the weekend when his son Tuscan Gaze rewarded his new owners with victory in the Group 2 Derby Italiano. Purchased just a couple of weeks before the classic and by newcomers to racing, the well-related Tuscan Gaze gave MAG Racing a dream start to ownership.

Bred by Coolmore and Lady Bamford’s Daylesford Stud, Tuscan Gaze was unbeaten in two starts for his breeders who placed him in training with John Gosden. With a rating of over 90 for his two victories, over seven and 10 furlongs, he was a perfect fit the 11-furlong Italian classic. Perhaps now connections will consider sending him for some of Europe’s Group 1 races, as such a victory would enhance his stallion prospects.
