GODOLPHIN’S Japanese-bred four-year-old Tower of London , in the hands of Christophe Lemaire, caught Mozu Superflare in the final yards to win last Sunday’s 53rd running of the Group 1 Sprinters Stakes over six furlongs at Nakayama. He thus gained an automatic berth in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint over the minimum trip at Santa Anita.

The colt is a son of the 2008 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven’s Pass (Elusive Quality) and out of the Dalakhani (Darshaan) mare Snow Pine and is trained by Kazuo Fugisawa. Tower of London has now won seven of his 14 starts and is the second Group 1 winner for his sire. He came into the Sprinters Stakes off a commanding three-length win, in course-record time, in the Group 2 Sankei Sho Centaur Stakes in early September and back in May captured the Group 2 Keio Hai Spring Cup.
