RESULTS of racing in South Africa may often just get a passing glance from breeders in this part of the world, but there was more than usual interest from one quarter in the result of the Group 1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes over a mile at Kenilworth last Saturday. More of that later.

The race was won for the second year running by the four-year-old Trippi filly Inara, and this was her third Group 1 success in all. Last year she also won the Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes, again at Kenilworth. She is a home-bred by Drakenstein Farm where her sire stands and the breeders were also in the news in the days leading up to last weekend’s racing.
