GOLDEN Tornado stood until last year at Gurteen Stud in Co Offaly. Unraced due to injury, he went to stud in 2000 and the following year his half-brother Fourstars Allstar (Compliance) travelled from America to win the Irish 2000 Guineas. In spite of his family connections, Golden Tornado never attracted the large books of mares necessary to be a successful commercial sire, but he did well with his relatively limited opportunities.

His first crop included the Grade 2 winning chaser Dancing Tornado, while the best runner from his third crop was the Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winning hurdler Berties Dream. Now his third big race winner has emerged, thanks to Takingrisks’ success in the Grade 3 Coral Scottish Grand National.
