CRYSTAL Ocean was a hugely popular winner on day two of Royal Ascot with a deserved and long overdue Group 1 victory in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Frankie Dettori, Crystal Ocean landed his first win at the highest level when beating Magical by a length and a quarter.

Winner last year of the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at the same meeting, the five-year-old is now unbeaten in three starts this year, having already landed a pair of Group 3 contests. The son of Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) was bred at the Rothschild family’s Southcourt Stud near Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.
