BRED by Paul McCartan and racing in the colours of his wife Marie, Our Joy was a well-named winner of a Lingfield nursery last week. The juvenile daughter of Kodiac (who will stand for €45,000 in 2016) will already have a career as a broodmare earmarked for the future but perhaps before that happens she will be aimed at some black type.

Being a winner now is a big plus as the two-year-old is the third successful offspring of her dam Great Joy. That daughter of Grand Lodge won in Germany and was runner-up in a listed race. She was purchased for 24,000gns carrying her second foal, by Spectrum, and she has more than repaid that investment in the years since.
