KARL Burke is no stranger to plundering prizes in Ireland and this year has been a special one in that regard. He continued to do so at Naas last weekend when he saddled the three-year-old Unfortunately to capture the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes, the colt’s first victory since he won the Group 1 Prix Morny last year.

That win in Deauville saw him rated the best colt of his age in France where he also won the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin. In the aftermath of those victories he was bought by Cheveley Park Stud and trainer Karl Burke expects that he will retire to stand at the Newmarket farm next season. He will run again on Champions Day at Ascot. Burke bought the colt at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale for €24,000.
