ON the previous page you will read about the brilliant weekend Jim Bolger enjoyed, and here he is being mentioned again in relation to a Group 1 winner. Mark Johnston trains Subjectivist and that three-year-old son of Teofilo (Galileo) won the Group 1 Prix Royal-Oak at ParisLongchamp. This was his fourth success, adding to victories in the Group 3 March Stakes at Goodwood and the Listed Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton Park.

Subjectivist was purchased by his trainer for 62,000gns as a yearling from Mascalls Stud, owned by the renowned sports promoter Barry Hearn, and he operates the Essex stud farm with his wife Susan. The attraction of Subjectivist as a yearling to Johnston was helped no doubt by the fact that a year earlier he paid 70,000gns for the colt’s year-older half-brother Sir Ron Priestly (Australia).
