BRED by the Lismacue Mare Syndicate, the two-year-old Charlie Hills-trained Rhosneigr opened his winning account this week, and if he continues the steady progression shown on his first three starts he could go on to better things. A 40,000gns foal sale through Kirsten Rausing’s St Simon Stud to Mags O’Toole, he showed a lovely profit for Eddie O’Leary’s Lynn Lodge Stud when he was pinhooked for 100,000gns last October.

He is a son of Iffraaj, the sire who is surely one of the most consistent producers of stakes winners at stud. A grandson of the great Park Appeal (Ahonoora) who won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes on her way to being crowned the champion two-year-old filly in Ireland and England, Iffraaj is just one of the successful sires descended from that mare.
