THE ink was hardly dry on the Arqana yearling catalogue for this year’s sale than there was a major update for one of the early lots in the catalogue. Set to be offered about an hour after the sale gets underway on Saturday, August 17th, is a daughter of Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill) and she is a full-sister to the weekend’s Group 3 Jebel Ali Anglesey Stakes winner Roman Turbo.

This two-year-old colt is unbeaten now in both starts for owner Sammy Hon Kit Ma and trainer Michael Halford, and has more than justified the modest €55,000 purchase price he commanded last year at the Goffs Orby Sale when he was sold to Johnny McKeever. He is the second horse Halford has trained for the owner, the first was last year’s Bellewstown winner Lethal Turbo, a €50,000 yearling buy, who is set to continue his career in Hong Kong.
