THE newly upgraded Group 1 Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh had a worthy winner in the shape of Havana Grey, a three-year-old from the first crop of the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat winner Havana Gold (Teofilo). Havana Grey is one of five stakes winners from the initial crop of the Tweenhills stallion who was among the leading first-crop sires of 2017.

Havana Gold won four of his six juvenile starts, from six furlongs to a mile, and his victories included the Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket over seven furlongs, and the Listed Ascendant Stakes over a furlong further at Haydock Park. Fourth to Magician in the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas and runner-up to Toronado in the Group 3 Craven Stakes, he beat a field that included Mondialiste, Style Vendome and Anodin in the one-mile Prix Jean Prat.
