EMMAS Joy was sent by her breeder Paddy Molloy three times to the sales and is officially recorded as having been unsold on each occasion. The last time was after the daughter of Gold Well (Sadler’s Wells) was saddled by Richard Black to win a point-to-point on her debut at Courtown. That day, at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sale in May 2018, she was unsold at £38,000.

Given what winning mares are making these days that would have been quite a bargain, and when Emmas Joy next appeared in November of the same year she won a bumper for the Skelton brothers. Her following start was in a listed bumper and she was runner-up. Since then she has won three hurdle races and most recently landed the Grade 2 Racing TV Jane Seymour Mares’ Novice Hurdle at Warwick.
