FAME And Glory went to stud in 2013 but died just four years later. The son of Montjeu (Sadler’s Wells) was a high-class runner who was successful in each of the five seasons he raced, winning 14 times and landing five Group 1 successes. He won the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud at two, was a classic winner at three in the Group 1 Irish Derby, captured both the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and the Group 1 Coronation Cup at four, and the following year won the Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup. He was also runner-up in the Derby at Epsom to Sea The Stars.

His first crop have just turned five and already it includes his first Grade 1 winner, the Lacy Solicitors Golden Cygnet Novice Hurdle victor Commander Of Fleet. Bred by Patricia Coghlan who was present to witness the victory at the weekend, the gelding was sold as a foal at Tattersalls Ireland for €35,000 to Mount Eaton Stud before being turned over for a modest profit when selling to Mags O’Toole for €47,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sale in 2017.
