WHEN John Tuthill and his aunt Averil Whitehead retained Evening Time as a yearling, they made one of their shrewdest bloodstock decisions. The daughter of the sub-fertile Keltos was put into training with Kevin Prendergast and that cocktail, which had been successful many times, was to be so once again.

Evening Time made a belated juvenile debut at Fairyhouse on the last day of September 2006 and ran out a nine-length winner of a six-furlong maiden. She reappeared just eight days later at the Curragh for the Listed Flame Of Tara EBF Stakes and was just as impressive, beating Theann by five lengths.
