THERE was plenty of emotion about following the victory of Captain Joy at Dundalk last Friday night. The seven-year-old son of Dark Angel survived a bad colic and surgery late last year and this win was a huge relief to trainer Tracey Collins.
“I am absolutely delighted and very, very pleased that Captain Joy has run so well as his colic surgery was not too long ago – in the middle of the autumn. He was a very sick horse and you never know how they will recover from surgery. Captain Joy was one of the last horses that the late Ned Gowing looked after for us.
