SIX weeks ago in this column I wrote, somewhat prophetically, ‘remember the name. Daring Tact’. At the time the first crop daughter of Epiphaneia (Symboli Kris S), had stretched her unbeaten record to three when she effortlessly won the first classic of the year in Japan, the Group 1 Oka Sho (1000 Guineas).

Last weekend she doubled up in the classics when she added the Group 1 Yushun Himba (Oaks) to her tally of four victories, the second filly to complete the double while still unbeaten. She did not have a clear run but overcame traffic problems to win and her bank balance now stands at just €2.5 million. Owned by Normandy Thoroughbred Racing Co Ltd, she was purchased by them at the JRHA Sale for the equivalent of about $110,000 as a yearling.
