IT is such a relief when a stud farm gets a new sire and, within a short space, he goes on to make headlines with his runners. Such is the case with Planteur (Danehill Dancer), who moves from France to stand as a National Hunt sire next year at Chapel Stud in Worcestershire.

The highest earning son of his sire with winnings of £2,262,581, Planteur had the best possible result at Ascot’s Champions Day on Saturday when the four-year-old Alan King-trained Trueshan stepped up from being a listed winner to landing the Group 2 British Champions Long Distance Cup.
