FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND won the Group 1 2000 Guineas 13 years ago and the son of Giant’s Causeway (Storm Cat) is a multiple Group 1 sire since retiring to stud under the Coolmore Stud banner. Half of his six winners at the highest level have done so in South America, while Steinbeck has earned more than €1.1 million, Shamalgan won the Group 1 Premio Vittorio di Capua, and Chachamaidee landed the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown. The last named had her first winner this week at Windsor in Klassique, a daughter of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) who won for Yvonne Jacques.

At the Curragh last weekend the Mark Johnston-trained Footstepsinthesand colt Marie’s Diamond, bred by Tony Ashley, stepped up on his recent second place finish in the Group 2 Gain Railway Stakes at the same venue to win the Group 3 Jebel Ali Racecourse Anglesey Stakes, his second victory.
