FOR a man who bred the Grade 1 winner Identity Thief, Grade 2 winner Beer Goggles, and now the Randox Grand National winner Minella Times, Cathal Ennis is modest enough about his achievements.

An avowed fan of Minella Times’ sire Oscar (Sadler’s Wells), the advertising sales executive operates from his family’s Quill Farm near Kilbeggan which is home to about 20 broodmares. Living near to the local racecourse fuelled his interest in a particular mare who ran no less than 11 times at the track, winning twice.
