IN 1994 Paul Webber and Sir Mark Prescott asked Prince Faisal to travel to Goffs to look at one Alzao (Lyphard) yearling filly. He arrived as the filly walked into the ring and bought her on his last probable bid for IR120,000gns., hence her name Last Second.

Bred by Kirtsen Rausing and Sonia Rogers, Last Second only raced seven times, winning four and finishing second twice. A multiple group winner, she won the Group 3 C L Weld Park Stakes at two before adding a pair of Group 2s in her second season, the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood and the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket. She was beaten a neck in the Group 1 Coronation at Royal Ascot by Shake The Yoke.
