The Lalor family and the name Carrigeen are synonymous, but the latest big race winner to emerge from the female line that descends from Carrigeensharragh does not carry the readily identifiable prefix.

In a thrilling finish on Wednesday Rogue Angel got back up to snatch the valuable feature of the Listowel race week, the Guinness Kerry National, and become the newest blacktype winner for the family. The nine-year-old son of Presenting is officially bred by Ann Lalor, wife of Dick and mother of Liz, and is the best progeny of the unraced Luso mare Carrigeen Kohleria. Though she never ran she fully deserved her chance at stud as she has four blacktype siblings, including a Grade 1 winner.
