PADDY Twomey is no stranger to this column and he warrants another mention following the debut success of Editorial at Dundalk last Friday. The three-year-old son of Bated Breath (Dansili) was bred in England by Christopher and Annabelle Mason Racing, and Christopher bred and raced the colt’s dam Bright Edge (Danehill Dancer) and raced the grandam Beveled Edge (Beveled).

Bright Edge did go to the sales and was reported as being sold for 4,000gns as a yearling. That was back in 2000 but she went into training with Bryn Palling in the colours of her breeder and made five starts at two, beaten half a length over five furlongs on her debut before winning twice over six at Nottingham and Windsor. On her final juvenile outing she was fourth, well beaten, behind the subsequent Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Gossamer, in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood.
