A son of leading shuttle sire Bernstein (by Storm Cat), who stood the northern hemisphere season at Castleton Lyons Stud in Kentucky, this year's Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) winner has now won three times at the highest level. He is trained by Jonathon Pease. Bernstein died in 2011.

He is out of Sun Is Up (by Sunday Silence), he is a half-brother to the mile Listed scorer Bottega (by Mineshaft), and his third dam is the dual Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile heroine Miesque (by Nureyev). Bayern wins the Breeders' Cup Classic

Bayern held on for a narrow victory in a three-way finish for the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic, pipping Toast Of New York (by Thewayyouare) and California Chrome (by Lucky Pulpit).

Bred by Helen Alexander, and trained by Bob Baffert, the dual Grade 1 winner is a son of the Pin Oak Lane Farm (Pennsylvania) stallion Offlee Wild (by Wild Again).

Main Sequence, who chased home Camelot in the Derby, but then disappointed in every European start since and earned the infamous 'Timeform squiggle', continued his transformation in the USA with a fourth consecutive Grade 1 victory, this time in the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita.

He is the best son of Aldebaran (by Mr Prospector), and the Niarchos family's homebred five-year-old is now trained by Graham Motion. The gelding is out of Ikat (by Pivotal), who is a pattern placed half-sister to the Group 2 scorer Smoking Sun (by Smart Strike).

His grandam Burning Sunset (by Caerleon) is a stakes winning half-sister to Group 1 Oaks scorer Light Shift (by Kingmambo), to the Group 1 winner Shiva (by Hector Protector), and to that filly's Group 2 winning full-brother Limnos. Runaway win for likely juvenile champion Texas Red

Texas Red, a son of Gainesway stallion Afleet Alex (by Northern Afleet), produced an astonishing last-to-first performance to score a runaway victory in the Grade 1 Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile over eight and a half furlongs at Santa Anita on Saturday.

Bred by Stonerstreet Thoroughbred Holdings Llc, and trained by Keith Desormeaux, the $17,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate is out of Ramatuelle (by Jeune Homme), who is a stakes winning half-sister to the Chilean Grade 2 scorer Vitra (by Wagon Master). His grandam is a full-sister to the Chilean Grade 1 winner Via Sixtina.

Group 1 sprint star for Kitten's Joy

Ramsey Farm stallion Kitten's Joy (by El Prado), usually associated with mile to 10 furlong horses, is the sire of the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint hero Bobby's Kitten.

Owned and bred by Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey, and trained by Chad Brown, the three-year-old was previously a Grade 1 placed Grade 3 scorer around a mile. Royal Ascot may be on his schedule in 2015.

He is out of Celestial Woods (by Forestry), and his grandam is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winners Forbidden Apple (by Pleasant Colony), Paradise Creek (by Irish River), and Wild Event (by Wild Again). The next dam is a half-sister to the turf champion Theatrical (by Nureyev).

Grade 1 double for City Zip

Lane's End Farm stallion City Zip (by Carson City) notched up a Grade 1 double at the Breeders' Cup on Saturday.

Dayatthespa won the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf over 10 furlongs at Santa Anita, her third victory at the highest level.

Bred by the partnership of Castellaire Di Cracchiolo Stable and Cracchiolo & Goldsher, she is trained by Chad Brown. She is out of M'Lady Doc (by Doc's Leader), who is a full-sister to the Grade 3 scorer Phi Beta Doc, and she comes from the family of the top Japanese miler, and successful sire, Hat Trick (by Sunday Silence).

Then the Illinois-bred five-year-old gelding Work All Week won the Grade 1 Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint over six furlongs.

Owned and bred by Midwest Thoroughbreds Inc, and trained by Roger Bruggeman, he is out of the stakes placed seven times winner Danzig Matilda (by Repriced), who is a half-sister to the prolific winner, and six-figures earner Redformer (by Dynaformer).

Judy The Beauty goes one better in 2014

Judy The Beauty, a half-length runner-up in the Grade 1 Draftkings Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint in 2013, scored a narrow victory in the seven furlong contest at Santa Anita on Saturday.

Owned and trained by Wesley Ward, the dual Grade 1 star was bred by Adena Springs, which is where her Breeders' Cup Classic winning sire Ghostzapper (by Awesome Again) stands.

She is out of the stakes winner Holy Blitz (by Holy Bull), and her grandam is the blacktype scorer Pagofire (by Island Whirl), whose siblings include the graded winners Fan The Flame (by Island Whirl) and Incinerate (by Groovy).

Giant's Causeway daughter springs a 62/1 shock

Take Charge Brandi added to the Grade 1 tally of Ashford Stud sire Giant's Causeway (by Storm Cat) when taking the 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies over eight and a half furlongs at Santa Anita on Saturday.

The D Wayne Lukas trained chesnut was bred by the Charming Syndicate, she is a $435,000 Keeneland graduate, and she is out of Charming (by Seeking The Gold). Her dam is a winning half-sister to the Grade 1 stars Will Take Charge (by Unbridled's Song) and Take Charge Indy (by A.P. Indy), and her grandam is the triple Grade 1 winner Take Charge Lady (by Dehere).

Fourth Grade 1 win for Untapable

Outstanding three-year-old filly Untapable won the Grade 1 Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff over nine furlongs on Friday night, her fourth victory at the highest level.

Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC's star is Steven Asmussen, and she is by the top US sire Tapit (by Pulpit), who stands at Gainesway in Kentucky. She is out of the Grade 2 winner Fun House (by Prized), which makes her a half-sister to the classic placed Grade 1 scorer Paddy O'Prado (by El Prado), a Spendthrift Farm sire whose first crop are yearlings.

Grade 1 success for freshman sire Quality Road

Listed Windsor Castle Stakes winner and Group 1 Prix Morny runner-up Hootenanny won the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf over a mile on Friday night, giving Lane's End Farm freshman sire Quality Road (by Elusive Quality) a first winner at the highest level.

The Wesley Ward trained colt was bred by Barronstown, he is the second foal out of More Hennessy (by Hennessy), his dam is a half-sister to the Grade 1 Prioress Stakes winner Cat Moves (by Tale of the Cat), and his yearling Smart Strike (by Mr Prospector) half-sister made $350,000 at Keeneland in September.

First Grade 1 winner for Divine Park

Lady Eli staked her claim to be champion two-year-old filly in the USA when easily winning the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf over a mile on Friday night. She represents the third crop of the Grade 1 winning miler Divine Park (by Chester House), an Airdrie Stud stallion, and she is his first winner at the highest level.

Trained by Chad Brown, and bred by the partnership of Runnymede Farm Inc and Catesby W Clay, she is out of Sacre Coeur (by Saint Ballado), which makes her a half-sister to the dual Grade 3 scorer Bizzy Caroline (by Afleet Alex).

Breeders' Cup repeat for Goldencents

Goldencents, who is due to join his sire Into Mischief (by Harlan's Holiday) at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky in 2015, joined the small but select list of horses who have won the same Breeders' Cup event twice when scoring a repeat success in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile on Friday night.

He was bred by the partnership of Rosecrest Farm and Karyn Pirrello, he is out of the dual winner Golden Works (by Banker's Gold), and his grandam is the prolific stakes winner Body Works (by Bold Ruckus).
