KALANISI sired the first two home, Kalane and Hannah’s Princess, in last Saturday’s EBF Final for National Hunt mares at Newbury. Standing at William Flood’s Boardsmill Stud in Trim, Co Meath, Kalanisi is one of this season’s top sires of bumper winners – his 15 to-date including listed winner Barters Hill, unbeaten in three starts for trainer Ben Pauling.

John Flood of Boardsmill said: “Kalanisi’s first National Hunt crop have just turned six and his largest crop has just turned four.”

Flood reported that Califet’s first crop of Irish foals are starting to hit the ground. “They have been very well-received and include a very nice colt foal out of a sister to Monksland, and an attractive filly out of a sister to Niche Market.”

Almost fully booked for this season, Califet ended 2014 as the third-best leading sire of NH three-year-olds in France, behind only Martaline and Saint Des Saints.

Also standing at Boardsmill is Court Cave, whose sons Court Minstrel and Clondaw Court have big engagements at the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals respectively.
