Ireland’s Billy Twomey and the traditional Irish Sport Horse, Ardcolum Duke(ISH)(TIH), were victorious in today's (Thursday) opening international class at Dublin Horse Show. The Speed Derby saw 19 combinations battling it out for the €24,600 prize money.

It was Cork native Twomey who jumped clear in the fastest time to take top spot, one of only two combinations to produce a fault free round.

Irish riders dominated the class with Shane Sweetman (Cyklon 1083) finishing in second, Dermott Lennon (Vampire) coming third, Greg Broderick (Zuidam) taking fourth and Denis Lynch (Ho Go Van De Padenborre) claiming sixth place.

Billy Twomey’s success today at Dublin continued after he finished in second place with Tin Tin in the Speed Stakes, after winning the first international class of the day, the Speed Derby.

Italy’s Lorenzo De Luca and the Irish Sport Horse Limestone Grey (ISH) were the winners of this afternoon’s Speed Stakes class.

Irish show jumpers fared well in the class with top further top 10 places.

Alexander Butler and Hallowberry Cruz (ISH)(TIH) finished in fourth place, while Shane Breen and Golden Hawk took fifth spot.

The final international class of the day, the Anglesea Stakes, kicks off in the Main Arena at 17.35 GMT.

Forty-seven riders will compete, including 17 riders representing Ireland.
