VICTORY for Bertram Allen in Sunday’s Stockholm Grand Prix has seen the Wexford rider win his seventh new car at the Swedish venue alone in the last three years, and the 10th new car of his career.

Allen, 22, from Enniscorthy, was one of just five riders who made it through to the second round jump-off in Stockholm, and he partnered the 11-year-old gelding Gin Chin van het Lindenhof.

They took the lead with a clear round against the clock in 42.63 seconds, comfortably faster than Sweden’s Malin Baryard-Johnsson who had held the lead with H&M Indiana.

Sweden’s Peder Fredricson and his European individual gold medal winner H&M All In, lowered a single fence when chasing Allen’s target as last to go, with Fredricson having to settle for third place on the podium.

Bertram Allen won three new cars at Sweden International Horse Show in 2015 and again in 2016, while Sweden was also the scene of Ireland’s memorable European Championship team gold medal win in August of this year.
