THE 13-week autumn season ends tomorrow in Killinick where the local Harriers host a replacement fixture following the Island Hunt’s inability to run a meeting on their allotted date. However, it is encouraging to see that the Islands hope to run a meeting in early April at their new course outside Courtown.

During the past three months, I have attended 10 meetings north, south and west. It has been a frustrating season where attendances have struggled except for two gatherings. They were Dowth Hall and last weekend’s meeting at Borris House. Assuming that the Carlow Farmers did not have the same PR resources as the Meath and Taras, it was refreshing to see a large crowd at Borris last Sunday.
