Global Export makes plenty of appeal on his first start since winning a maiden hurdle at Navan in March. That run followed honourable second place finishes behind the useful pair of Hms Seahorse and Man O Work and he looks equal to the task at hand even though he has a 119-day absence to overcome.
Douglas Dc might be able to turn around Ballinrobe form with Prairie Dancer. The latter won by 16 lengths that day but he is now 4lbs worse off and the shorter distance of this race could work in favour of Douglas Dc.
SELECTION: GLOBAL EXPORT

After opening his account in bumpers with a clear-cut success at Tramore a month ago The Friday Man could follow up here. That Tramore success was achieved on the back of several respectable runs in defeat and his overall form suggests that he won’t have much trouble winning a maiden hurdle.
Esperti showed up well at Punchestown late last month when chasing home Tax For Max in a two-mile maiden hurdle. He looks a likely danger.

The Tide Turns can make a winning return from 90 days off. He finished a creditable third to Flame Bearer in a two-mile Grade 2 at Fairyhouse in early April on his last start and also ran with credit to take fourth in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown won by Vauban in February and when filling the same spot in the Red Mills Hurdle a couple of weeks later. That form points to his capacity to win a decent handicap hurdle.
He is preferred to the top-weight, Anna Bunina, who suffered a surprise defeat at Down Royal last time. A winner of the Scottish Champion Hurdle several months ago, Anna Bunina is more than capable of a bold showing off top weight.
SELECTION: THE TIDE TURNS
Next best: Anna Bunina

Secret She Keeps has to overcome a 168-day absence from the track but she still makes overwhelming appeal. She was a disappointing favourite in a Fairyhouse maiden won by My Design last season but her previous third to Howyabud in a two-and-a-half-mile contest at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival represents a cracking effort in the context of this race.
A return to that form should see this winning pointer deal with Coole Og who won a Tramore bumper on her debut 11 months ago and is probably better than shown on her hurdling debut at Galway in October when fifth to Lady Temperance.
SELECTION: SECRET SHE KEEPS

For The Cause is no more than a speculative choice to shrug off the burden of top weight. He wasn’t able to land a telling blow on his handicap hurdle debut at Kilbeggan a month ago but wasn’t disgraced in being beaten just under 20 lengths into eighth by Darkened, and he gave the impression a step up to this trip would suit. The booking of Shane Fitzgerald is also a positive.
The 10-year-old Shantou Sisu has won two handicap hurdles which means he has achieved more than most of his rivals and he is not without a chance now that he switches back to hurdling.
SELECTION: FOR THE CAUSE

Another top-weight is taken to score, with Well Joey making plenty of appeal. He showed up well to finish fourth to Father Jed in a Clonmel handicap a couple of months ago and his subsequent third to Rebellious Gale at Limerick is a good run. That came in a stronger race than this and would suggest he will find this prize well within his reach.
Eaton Lady ran a fine race to chase home Lady Iseult in a Roscommon handicap last time and is another that warrants close consideration.
SELECTION: WELL JOEY

Loudest Whisper might be able to repeat last year’s victory in this race. She comes here in good heart having chased home Wild Shot in an extended mile-and-a-half handicap at Down Royal last month. Further cause for encouragement is provided by her most recent effort over hurdles which saw her finish second to the vastly improved Direct Image in a Punchestown handicap in late May.
She might be able to deal with Yenillik who made a successful handicap debut over this trip at Wexford in May. He is now 11lbs higher but is still open to plenty of progress in this sphere after just four outings over hurdles.
SELECTION: LOUDEST WHISPER

Uncle Phil followed up a debut second at Kilbeggan in May with a commanding success back at that track last month when he defeated Down Around by 14 lengths. A 7lbs winner’s penalty for that success is largely negated by his rider’s claim and he can deal with Realistic Optimism.
That one was beaten by one of today’s rivals, High City Roller, at Limerick in May but appeared to post an improved effort in dominating a Kilbeggan bumper last month when scoring by 10 lengths.
