GORDON Elliott supplied the two highest-rated runners by some distance in the Byrne Marquees Hilltown Hurdle over three miles but they had to give best to the Denis Hogan-ridden and trained Macgiloney (2/1). The Michael Moloney-owned six-year-old, who won the bumper on this card last year, produced his best effort to date over hurdles to see off Make My Heart Fly by a neck, with the odds-on Count Simon two and a half lengths back in third. Macgiloney will now head to Galway, but Hogan received a two-day whip ban for his efforts.

Gordon Elliott enjoyed better fortune in the opener as Amor Verdadero (3/1) took the Western Motors Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Mares Maiden Hurdle and she moved the trainer on to the 30-winner mark for the season.
