HE hasn’t run many juveniles so far this season but when he has unleashed an occasional two-year-old Ger Lyons has been nothing short of metronomic in terms of his strike rate. Indeed the victory of Marchons Ensemble in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Median Auction Maiden meant that by last Friday the trainer had won with five of the six two-year-olds he had brought to the track this season.

In the colours of former riding great and long time Lyons friend Graham Bradley, this son of Pour Moi built on a most encouraging debut second at Limerick to justify evens-favouritism easily under Colin Keane. Marchons Ensemble crossed the line with three and a half lengths to spare and could have the nursery on the penultimate day of Galway Festival on his agenda.
