IRISH-born trainer Brendan Walsh saddled a stakes winner last weekend, the British-bred Beauly. She won the $100,000 Indiana General Assembly Distaff Stakes in the colours of Rebecca Hillen, having been purchased by her husband Stephen for 140,000gns at last year’s Tattersalls December Sale.

Formerly trained by Charlie Hills, at the time of her sale she was a winner over a mile and half a furlong on the all-weather, her only start on the surface, and was runner-up in the Listed Lord Weinstock Memorial Ballymacoll Stakes at Newbury to Abingdon. A daughter of Gilltown Stud’s Sea The Stars, Beauly was bred by the partnership of New England Stud, Mount Coote Stud and Paddy Barrett.
