THE small hunter championship was held in Arena 1 on Wednesday afternoon when the winner was announced as the older class winner, Randalstown Lord Sugar, who was ridden by his owner, Eva Lowry.
Lowry works in the Galgorm Luxury Hotel & Spa but, in her spare time, she helps out Robert and Sheelagh Morrow from whom she purchased the 2016 gelding, who has no recorded breeding, as a three-year-old. If not sold, Randalstown Lord Sugar will head to Dublin.
There were loud cheers around Arena 1 on Thursday morning when Nicola Martin won the North Down Marquees ladies’ hunters astride championship on Sister Act 2 who is owned by her parents, Tim and Pat.
Purchased as a foal, the four-year-old Emperor Augustus mare was bred by the late Des Noctor out of Kemella Clover Diamond (by Coille Mor Hill). “Lesley Jones and her team did a great job breaking and producing ‘Molly’ who will have a bit of time off now before being aimed at Dublin,” said the very happy rider.
