THE MMW Under 10 128cm Championship took centre stage at Balmoral Show on Saturday with 22 combinations going to post. Leading the victory lap was Lucy Kent when she was fastest of the six double clears aboard Grantstown Snoopy in a time of 37.67 seconds.

Kent’s closest rival was fellow Leinster rider Claudia O’Neill who galloped home aboard Sparkles In The Rain in a time of 37.87.

Serena Brown guided Maximilo to a clear in 38.99 for third place, ahead of Elsie Tunney and In It To Win It, who maintained a clean sheet in 40.64. Edward Walsh was fractions of a second behind with Chantilly Pocket Rocket in a time of 40.69 for fifth place, while finishing in sixth place was Katelyn Horgan and Coppenagh Hakuna Matata, clear in 43.90.

Finishing off the national jumping schedule was the amateur riders with 29 combinations battling it out in the Botanica International Amateur Championship.

Taking the honours was AA category rider Caitlin Duffy. Duffy was one of 10 double clears aboard Jockeyhall Midas Touch in a time of 44.73. Caitriona Cody (AA) put in a gallant attempt with Shanroe Socialite and a clear in 46.09 saw her take the runner-up spot. Little separated the next placing as Marie Hartley (AA) lodged a clear with Nikita Van Het Heidenhof in a time of 46.65 for third place.

Winner of the first RDS amateur qualifier, Lisa Marie Dolly (AA) was back in the line-up, this time taking fourth place with Newgrange Lady when clear in 46.80. Nicola Hall slotted into fifth place when clear in 47.12, ahead of fellow AA rider Jayne Clarke and Emby, clear in 48.32.
