IT may have been just a seven-runner contest, but there was no disguising the superiority of the Aidan Fitzgerald-trained newcomer Nada To Prada (3/1) in the five-year-old mares’ maiden well-attended Lisgoold meeting at Ballindenisk last Sunday.

On an afternoon that saw some 53 runners at the United Foxhounds-sanctioned fixture, Nada To Prada was the definite paddock-pick beforehand, and she was always well positioned with Richie Deegan as Western Fiona and Cailin Dearg mainly vied for supremacy up front. The confidently-ridden winner assumed command before the second last of the 12 obstacles and, having thrown another fine leap at the final fence, powered clear to contain Cailin Dearg by five lengths. The pair returned six lengths clear of the third-placed Annie Day.
