WHILE Britain’s Saffie Osborne sees her future as a flat jockey, she is a very talented event rider and the reigning European pony team and individual gold medallist recorded her first international success on a horse last weekend when winning Ballindenisk’s CCIJ2*-L on Lord and Lady Blyth’s Lakantus.

Osborne led from start to finish in the 14-runner class, completing on the score of 28.8 penalties she was awarded in the dressage phase by Finland’s Seppo Laine (C) and Midleton’s Marie Hennessy (B). Joint second at this stage on 30.7 were Cork’s Cameron Kiernan on Fernhill Nearly Darc and Britain’s Tom Bird with Parkfield Quintessential.
