HAVING lost the New Zealand Oaks on protest three weeks earlier, Sofia Rosa redeemed herself with victory in Saturday’s A$1 million Australian Oaks. Midfield and forced to race three-wide from the 1,000 metres, Sofia Rosa travelled smoothly into the race.

Racing at the rear, Single Gaze (minor lacerations) and Kathy O’Hara (punctured lung and fractured collarbone) clipped heels and fell on the turn as Hugh Bowman got Sofia Rosa out of traffic.
