THE German-bred Sound, narrowly denied a Melbourne Cup start by a fast-finishing Ashrun in the Hotham Handicap on Derby Day, has redeemed himself with a well-taken win in the Group 2 Zipping Classic, the final feature race of the Spring racing carnival.

Trained by Mike Moroney, the Lando gelding forged clear in the closing stages of the 2,400-metre event to post a length margin over the British-bred Fastnet Rock gelding Brimham Rocks and the Irish-bred Cape Cross gelding Future Score in third.
