SYDNEY’s inaugural Golden Eagle, a A$7.5 million 1,500 metre race for four-year-olds at Rosehill, controversially drawing some of the limelight from Flemington on Derby Day, was won by the Epsom Handicap winner Kolding.
Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Glen Boss, the Ocean Park gelding was irresistible in his charge to the line after Boss had to switch off heels three times before finally getting clear in the 150 metres. Second went to Sunlight ahead of Mizzy, a pair of Zoustar fillies.
